Prepare the dough: Mix flour, sugar, salt, oil, and warm water until a smooth dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes, then cover and rest for 30 minutes.
Make the oil paste: Combine flour and oil until a crumbly paste forms, then knead into a soft dough. Cover and rest.
Make the filling: Mix sesame paste and sugar until well combined. Adjust sweetness to taste.
Divide the dough and oil paste into equal portions (e.g., 16 each). Flatten a dough portion, wrap an oil paste portion, and seal.
Roll each ball into a thin rectangle, then roll it up into a cylinder. Repeat rolling and rolling again to create layers. Cover with plastic wrap to prevent drying.
Take each rolled piece, flatten it, and place a spoonful of filling in the center. Seal the edges tightly and shape into a ball or oval.
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush each pastry with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
Place pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
Allow to cool slightly before serving. These are best enjoyed warm.
